Description

The George Washington University is inviting early-mid career leaders involved in work related to health, from across the globe as well as USA, to apply to become 2020 Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity. This fellowship is a 1-year, non-residential fellowship program taking place at the George Washington University Health Workforce Institute in Washington, DC., from January 2020 to December 2020. The fellowship aims to build and support a linked group of global multidisciplinary leaders equipped with the technical knowledge, skills, and network to advance health equity in their communities and institutions.

Fellows will meet in person and online throughout the year. There are 4 in-person meetings, called convenings, throughout the year that represent a total time commitment of about 5 weeks. Convenings are full time, out of office commitments. Online meetings take place every 2 weeks for 90 minutes. There is an additional time commitment of 12 to 16 hours per month for the online curriculum, but this is self-directed learning done at the learner’s own pace.

Ten U.S. and 10 international fellows will be selected.

Benefits

All educational experiences and travel expenses related to participation in the fellowship will be covered by the program. However, fellows will not receive a stipend and are expected to remain employed throughout the fellowship.

Eligibility

Applicants can be US citizens or from any other country. They should be early-to-mid-career professionals engaged in health-related work and who want to become global leaders, understand the foundations of health inequity, and build the knowledge, skills, and courage to create more equitable organizations and communities. They must currently be in leadership or a position that has potential for leadership. Applicants do not need to be health professionals to apply for this fellowship. They could be from any of the diverse industries and professions that influence health and well being including, but not limited to: art, law, business, academia, government, journalism, social enterprise, research, media, housing, and health care delivery.

Applicants must be fellows fluent in English and be able to travel internationally to participate in fellowship convenings.

Application
