Role overview

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT/TEAM 

The Teaching Centre management team in HCMC consists of one Head of Adults (with overall responsibility for the Adult and High School programmes); four Senior Teachers – though plans are to increase this number soon; five Coordinators; and an Operations Manager. The Head of Young Learners is based in Hanoi, but visits HCMC on a regular basis.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY 

This role need to provide up to 18 hours per week of high-quality teaching of Young Learner (YL) courses, and occasionally other courses when needed. To deliver two hours per week of cover as paid overtime if needed. You will also be able to support students, teaching assistants and teachers with YL courses and to help develop, promote and support YL products in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).

WHAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT IT 

The post offers excellent developmental opportunities for you to contribute to English and Exams (E&E) strategy by delivering teaching to the highest standards of English Language Teaching (ELT), enhancing British Council’s reputation as a world authority in ELT. You will also be able to support Young Learner Senior Teacher to provide extra value for students of Young Learners courses in HCMC.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

To be considered, you should have a high proficiency in English, i.e. full mastery of English across all four skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8/9 in each of the four sections of the academic module. You may need certificate of Cambridge DELTA/Trinity Dip TESOL, recognised certificate in YL teaching (TYLEC, YL Extension to the CELTA, CELTYL, etc.) and undergraduate/university degree. It is desirable to have PGCE, MA/MSc TESOL, TEFL or Applied Linguistics or Certificate or Diploma in Educational Management.
