Those who are entering Masters degree programs at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) commencing AY 2019, with a demonstrated interest in the area of environmental public policy and practice and in preserving the environment, can apply for the Louis Bacon Environmental Leadership Program.

The Bacon Environmental Leadership Program connects fellows with highly accomplished national and international leaders, to provide them with skills necessary to foster sustainable environmental impact, build cross-sector partnerships, and germinate new ideas and bring about innovative change in the policies and programs that safeguard natural resources as well as promote a healthy global ecosystem.

Benefits

Fellows are awarded a full tuition scholarship and health fees for up to 2 years, depending on the length of their graduate degree program. They will also be paid a stipend of up to US$10,000 for up to 2 years.

Louis Bacon Environmental Leadership Fellows will join the Center for Public Leadership’s community of graduate fellows. They will participate in an enriching co-curricular program that includes a welcome retreat, a weekly series of speakers, workshops and seminars, a field experience and opportunities to network with other Center for Public Leadership fellows and alumni.

Eligibility

Applicants for the fellowship must be students entering their first year of study in any of the Harvard Kennedy School’s Masters degree programs. Students pursuing a joint degree at HKS and another Harvard graduate or professional school or those in concurrent programs at other approved universities or schools may also apply.

Applicants should be scholars and practitioners eager to take up the mantle of environmental leadership and stewardship, such as emerging leaders from the government, business and NGO communities who are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the environment.

Applicants will be assessed based on their excellent academic credentials and a demonstrated focus on developing leadership abilities to impact environmental public policy and practice. But consideration will be given to financial need.

Applications to Harvard Kennedy School are to be done online by 3 December 2018, and applications to the Bacon Environmental Fellowship must be done online by 4 February 2019.
